First Crafty Individuals class of 2010

Thank goodness we were back at Jeans on Thursday I was begining to fret. She has brought out some lovely new stamps and I just had to have this set of quaint cottages. They are of a little seaside village close to us here in the North East. It's a very pretty village at the base of a very very steep hill. One time it was a thriving village but now all the cottages are owned by holidaymakers. I've coloured this image with Inktense pencils but I think they will look equally good chalked.

Tags for Glue and Stick

The glue and stick group I go to once a month has set a challenge to bring along 2 tags each session so that we can keep one and swap the other. We are using the months of the year as our theme. I've chosen the weather for mine seeing as though it has affected us all. I've sponged distress ink, weathered wood, through the dreamweaver stencil to create the white trees. Then added stickles and stamped the month in red. I've used the word hope as a new year always fills me with hope. I'm only hoping I can keep this up as I'm hopeless at finishing things off!

Thanks for dropping by.

Cute caravans

Your good wishes worked!

I just want to thank everyone who wished my son Ross good luck on my previous post. (that's my boy). he has been offered a job with that renewable energy company to be reviewed in three months yipee. He's working on the sea snake that get energy from the waves. Over my head I'm afraid but he seems to understand it. Just goes to show the power of positive thinking.

What's on the inside?

Classes have started again and this week we began with inserts. These are often neglected as we tend to concentrate all our creativeness on the front of a card. So here's a few simple ideas to jazz up the plain paper! I've used stamps, cuttlebug, a brayer and an edge punch.

Cards, cards, cards

This is what I've been doing during the snowy weather. My great neice will be 2 in January so I made the card using a cottton rabbits stamp. Next is a retirement card for my sister. She has taken early retirement, only just...( she's 65 in March). She intends to use her time purposefully, shopping, visiting friends and family, babysitting grandchildren and caravaning. That is once she can get out of her farmhouse on the Yorkshire moors.
Finally as we start 2010 there are many people I need to thank so I have started my batch of thank you cards.
Thanks for dropping by.
I wish I could work out how to get my photos in order! I keep thinking I've sussed it but no, still learning I guess.

That's my boy

Here's a shrine that we made at our last CI workshop of 2009. The outside was created with ink and clear crackle paint. Inside was decorated with CI papers and stamps. I decided to use it to display our oldest son's graduation . He graduated after 5 long years at Uni in Edinburgh(he failed the first year too much partying me thinks) but he stuck in and graduated with a BSc Honours in Physics. I think it was the threat that he would have to return home to Middlesbrough that focused him. He is severely dyslexic and we are immensely proud of him. Now the next hurdle is a job. It's so hard at the moment with the downturn in the job market and the glut of graduates. He's working on a voluntary basis with a renewable energy company in Edinburgh so fingers crossed.

Men and boys

Why is that just after Christmas you have a flood of male birthdays? It's bad enough thinking of something to buy them for the festive season never mind a birthday present one week later! Anyway I set to and these are my efforts for my great nephew and a good freind.
Don't you find that male cards can be really tricky, if I didn't have so much stash I would buy them!!!!!
A Happy New Year and thanks for dropping by last year , hope you'll hang aroung for 2010
