A fleet of UFOs

I had a little time just before the big day, you know that time when you think it's all done so you settle down to play. I thought I'd tackle a couple of Christmas UFOs. So I whiled away an hour or two only to realise that I had a stack of presents still to wrap! Never mind it all got done in the end. Hope you all had a great time and sufficiently rested to tackle NEW YEAR!
The Birdie house was a previous post from our Glue and Stick group, the shadow box was a CI workshop and the Christmas tree was a Kaisercraft kit from 3djean.

UK Monthly Art Raffle

I made this little shadow box at a workshop at Crafty Individuals and I've decided to put it into the UK Monthly Art raffle. I know ... I know I'll regret it but I can't keep everything I make can I ? I could of course make another one. Good job I bought another box in class. So I've put it on my shelf not quite a UFO ( unfinshed object) more a not even started one.

Thanks for dropping by, feel free to leave a comment I like reading them.

Playtime at Crafty Individuals

I nearly forgot to show these beauties I made at last week's class with Jean. We've started to tackle the Christmas card list and I can't believe theres only 24 days left. We sponged the frames with Ariondack inks, images, stamps and papers are from CI and I've added German scrap to give that bit of bling. The button was made with a Martha Stewart punch (it's on my Christmas list). The blue card has been embossed through the cuttlebug snowflake folder.
Don't you just love working to a deadline. I've finished teaching classes today so now I can turn all my attention to Christmas, starting with the presents. Thank God for the internet.

Thanks for dropping by

Another UFO bites the dust

I'm on a roll, another UFO completed ! This is a tea light holder that I started in a CI workshop a while back. When I got it home I realised that I had put the stampboard squares on too low and I couldn't get my German scrap edge on the bottom typical! So I needed to adapt it by adding wooden beads as feet. I had meant this to be a Christmas present but I like it so much it's staying on my windowsill. Do you find yourself being unable to part with things you've made?
Oh well I'm sure she'll be happy with the gift voucher.

UFO mission completed

Yep I've managed to finish one of the many UFOs in my craft room. Today I found a bit of time to make a home for my little birdie(see an older post) from the glue and stick group I go to. He looks very handsome but he was so excited that I couldn't get him to stop twirling. maybe when he settles down I might get a photo of him stationary.

Right I'm off now to tackle yet another UFO, thanks for dropping by

Tags, bags and gift cards

This week we're making those essential accessories for our Christmas gifts. I've used those brown paper lunch bags from Home Bargains to make a really useful gift bag. You can decorate with all those bits we crafters hoard. I have used papers, stamps, stencils (left overs from my Cuttlebug) buttons and ribbons. The tags similarly use all those bits left on my desk after I've been playing. I found the gift card insert on the Internet and thought it was cute. I always hate giving gift cards but now at least I can dress them up.

A step towards Christmas

It's getting closer and I can feel a slight panic growing, I need to get those cards made. I tried to kid myself in September after I had been to the Harrogate papercrafts show that this would be the year I was organised. But here we are mid November and I'm just starting. Here are some side step cards I made for the class that I teach. My students range from complete beginners to those who teach me! The cards show a range of techniques that we have covered this term such as creating backgrounds by sponging and spritzing, stamping and embossing.
Thanks for dropping by but I must leave you as Christmas is coming!

12 Days of Christmas Project

I've signed up for the 12 days of Christmas Project over on copy and paste. Kirstie and Julie are going to inspire us with beautiful ideas and projects to make from stuff we have at home. Now I'm renowned for not finishing things so this is going to be a real challenge to complete at least one project that I can use as a Christmas gift. So why not pop over and join in, then you too can have some more UFOs on your shelf. I hope to blog my efforts if they're not too embarassing so watch this space.

Mini book for Isla

I was asked to make a little book for my hairdresser's grandaughter Isla. I love making these from those little board books you find in charity shops. I've covered it with Anna Griffin papers, frames are by CI and bits and pieces from my stash, add ribbons and tags. On photo 2 (I know its not very clear) the word under the lace is first and I've made tags labelled word .smile and tooth so that she can record those special moments ahhhh.

When is a moo not a moo?

This weeks class at Crafty Individuals was called " A Moo or two". For those who haven't encountered a Moo, it's a piece of work that measures 2.8cm by 7 cm but I wasn't concentrating and I cut my Moo too short so now it's not a Moo. I know you're saying how could I be so careless, but these things happen ,sorry Moo. I just continued to make this lovely Christmas card. Promise to take more care next time. So if you have to make a Moo concentrate!

Thanks for dropping by.

Another UFO

No sooner had I cleared a space on my shelf when it was filled by yet another unfinished project. This week was glue and stick with Gail and we were making a delightful Christmas wreath from little bird houses. Needless to say I didn't finish but in all fairness we had to cut, cover and assemble 16 little bird houses. In the centre of the wreath a little birdie will sit and so I thought I'd tempt you with a little peep. I had to prop him up on my easel but I think you can get the idea. Watch this space and maybe you may see the finished article. How many weeks to Christmas?

UFOs

Are you like me? Lots of UFOs (unfinished objects ) on your shelf. Well today I decided to tackle that pile of cards that was growing on my shelf. They only needed the inserts adding and then I could pass them on to my friend for her to sell. Well a girls gotta to do what she can to get her stash money. I felt quite chuffed by the time I'd finished, maybe I'll start on those mini books next and after that all those Crafty Individuals projects, then those little note books I was going to cover and don't forget the tins that are dying to be altered. As I was saying we all have those UFOs lols.

oops I nearly forgot

Silly me I nearly forgot to post my efforts at our last glue and stick workshop. I'm glad to say that it was a true glue and stick and I was properly prepared. Gail showed us how to make some lovely notelet boxes courtesy of Debbie. Although I managed to make a few I have yet to finish them off, despite one of them is a friend's birthday present! Ah well I'm not expecting to see her until next week so I've plenty of time.
Thanks for the ideas Gail and Debbie I can see these being really useful, providing I finish them

Acetate cards

At this weeks workshop at CI we used acetate to create our cards. I haven't been very successful with acetate in the past. Despite using Stazon ink I have found that my images are a bit blurred
and I can see all my finger prints. Hopefully these pics don't show that !
Thanks for dropping by.

When a saying says it all

If you look at my header I've added a quote that I found when checking out other blogs. I think it was an Australian crafter called Michelle but I've not marked her blog. It sums up my attitude completely!!!!!!!

As I usually say I had to give something up to take up crafting so.... I gave up housework!

Enjoy yourselves whatever you're doing (as long as it's not housework).

Im late, I'm late for RSS5

Oops this took me longer than I thought. This is my entry for the ready steady stamp challenge 5 that should have been in on Wednesday. I found this little birdhouse in a local bargain shop and I just knew what I wanted to do with it. This is the first time I've used the PVA resist technique and I'm not sure if I got the effect I expected, but over all I like it.

Inks- distress frayed burlap, shabby shutters & weathered wood,

flower stamp- Little claire, butterfly stamp- clear choice, heart border- Blonde Moments

dew drops, lace

Here come the Girls

Here's my take on an idea from Linda, she made a fab binder for her unmounted stamps and I thought oh I need one of those!
I've used a sugar nellie stamp, distress ink, worn lipstick, paper is My Minds Eye laundry line.
Now I SHOULD be able to find my stamps without emptying the drawer!

Yipee CI workshops are back

After a long summer classes started back at CI. Even though Jean wasn't feeling well she still managed to inspire us with a selection of little canvases. As there are ONLY 14 weeks to go I thought I'd better get started on some Christmas stuff. The stamp used is a new one in the range. Sorry about the quality of the photo it doesn't really show the detail . For regular peeps don't worry I didn't finish this is class but I did manage to put it altogether at home after class. Even that was quite a feat!

Inchies and twinchies

Here's my contributions for the Inchie and Twinchie challenge over on UKS. The Inchies theme is foliage so I used my CI stamps and shrink plastic for the leaves. For the Twinchies, the theme is flourishes, I brayered the background with Ariondack ink, watermelon, embossed the flourishes in black and added some little black gems. Why don't you hop over and join in Sid will make you very welcome. You have until the end of September to get your entries to him.
What ever you're doing this evening enjoy.
